Mathiston Fire and Rescue is an all-volunteer department that is composed of 29 men and women serving the Town of Mathiston, Northern Choctaw County and Southeastern Webster County. Mathiston Fire and Rescue provides fire protection services, medical first responder services, automobile extrication, public fire education and severe weather assessments and responds to approximately 180 dispatched calls annually. We assist other fire departments and other public service agencies with equipment, water, and personnel to aid them in the proper management of their emergency. Mathiston Fire and Rescue is proud to have a Class 6 fire rating issued by the Mississippi Fire Rating Bureau for the improvements made to our fire protection services. This rating means that homeowners should see a reduction in insurance costs from insurance companies on their houses and property. Our department has two Class A certified firefighting pumpers, two 5000-gallon tanker trucks, one quick attack truck for smaller fires, rescues and medical and one grass fire truck that doubles as a medical and grass/wildland firefighting vehicle. Mathiston Fire and Rescue has trained firefighting personnel holding Certified Volunteer Firefighter Level I and some personnel that are Certified Volunteer Firefighter Level II. Our medical responders have training and certifications in CPR, Medical First Responder, EMT, Paramedic, LPN and Registered Nurse. Mathiston Fire and Rescue is available 24 hours a day and are dispatched by Webster County E-911 dispatch.
